High Tech Tools - Recalibrating Your Vehicle

What is recalibration for?

Vehicles purchased within the last five years typically have technology to assist drivers known as ADAS - Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. These systems help drivers to be better and more aware on the road of their surroundings. The windshield is the largest part of these systems and contains either cameras or sensors that monitor any obstacles, other vehicles, or road lines. If you have a vehicle with ADAS and your windshield needs to be replaced, it is important that your auto glass company uses a recalibration tool to make sure that your camera and sensors are pointing in the correct direction.

What tool do we use to recalibrate?

Cervantes Auto Glass has invested in the professional and top-tier Autel’s MaxiSys MS906 Pro tool to correctly recalibrate the camera on your vehicle and ensure it is identifying objects and road lines at the correct distance and location. We recalibrate the windshields in-house to save our customers from having to return to their dealership for this feature. When you visit Cervantes Auto Glass for your windshield replacement, you can ask your windshield technician about the latest calibration technology available.

The Autel system plugs into your vehicle and communicates to the vehicle’s computer to pull required information during a pre-scan before calibration and a post-scan once completed to verify the ADAS features are functioning properly. Some insurance companies request a scan report to verify the recalibration was completed. At Cervantes Auto Glass we will provide this report hassle free to our customers and to the insurance company if requested.

Why should you care about recalibration?

We cannot stress enough how important it is for your own safety to make sure that the windshield is recalibrated after a replacement on any vehicle that has this feature. Once the ADAS post-test confirms the windshield replacement, you can trust that your driver's assistance tech is good to go. At Cervantes Auto Glass, we prioritize your safety and use advanced ADAS calibration technology to ensure everything is working perfectly.
